Welcome ladies, gentlemen and everything in between. So I was thinking about what my first blog post should be about and I immediately thought of new booktubers with their booktube newbie tag. I thought, hey, we should have that in the book blog community too! So I changed the questions of the original tag a bit. And then I searched online if a book blog newbie tag already existed. It does. So here I am thinking I was original and getting it back in my face.
1. Why did you start this blog?
So I’ve been around bookstagram for almost a year now and a good amount of bookstagrammers have blogs. I’ve been wanting to start one for quite some time now, because I’d like to post my reviews on here. Also, there are some concepts I want to write about that are simply to long to put into a instagram caption.
2. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?
I can’t promise you anything pals. I know for a fact that I will try to be as honest as possible and I won’t hide my personality, so be prepared for a lot of weirdness from me. I have quite a creative soul so I hope I will make that useful!
3. What are you most excited about this new blog?
A new experience, a new creative outlet and hopefully new friends. And ofcourse I feel very professional having a blog, there’s just something cool and mature about it, you know?
4. Why do you love reading?
People usually insert something really cheesy here. Something like: books make me feel like a different person, like I’m in a different world. I mean, I only have that with my favorite books. I love reading because I like getting to know new stories and characters, because I want to have a good laugh or I want to fangirl. All the reasons why a teenager would like to watch Netflix. (I do really love Netflix though.) But seriously, reading is the best, the books are gorgeous to look at and there’s this whole community you can talk with about all the books you’ve devoured.
5. What book or series got you into reading?
I would say Harry Potter like the basic bitch I am but even though these books were the very first books I really loved, it was the Darkest Minds trilogy that got me into reading. One day a friend randomly recommended this book to me and I thought, hey, why not read it? So I lent it from her and let me tell you: it was amazing. That was the moment I realized I could cry like a baby because of books. (But I did shed a lot of tears while reading HP as well, those DEATHS are the worst, you know which deaths I mean!!)
6. What questions would you ask your favorite authors?
To Jay Kristoff: how do you manage to make me laugh and cry so much all because of one book.
To Leigh Bardugo: your characters are legends, which one is your favorite? Because a lot of people ask that as a qotd and I can never answer it haha.
To Madeline Miller: not a question, but thank you for making “The Song of Achilles” so legendary. Patroclus and Achilles will forever have my heart.
7. What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?
My laziness and lack of time. Because I either post irregularly because school is kicking my ass and making me study till midnight every day, or I have the time to write a blogpost but I’m just too lazy.
8. When did you start reading?
I haven’t been a bookworm for a long time actually. I started around January this year so you could say I’m quite new.
9. Where do you read?
Mostly on my bed with my blanket and a pillow. But sometimes I also read in the car or bus because we have to keep the reading grind going, am I right?
10. What kind of books do you like to read?
Those who come from my bookstagram (@exquisitepages) already now because it’s really obvious. FANTASY. Give me all of it with a hint of romance (hate to love is the best, *ahem* the wicked king made me obsessed with this trope) I also enjoy a good amount of contemporary, usually those dealing with mental health (for example, “We are okay” by Nina Lacour) or something fluffy like “Red, White and Royal Blue” by Casey McQuiston.
And that brings us to the end of this post. I’m sorry it was so long, I could keep rambling about books for forever!
Wishing you all your whole book wishlist,
